An incredibly talented group that continues to be wrongly associated with being "old, outdated and/or transsexual". Most people who bash Abba overlook their musical genius, or at the very least, misinterpret their style as "pop" music. While much of Abba's work did lean towards the 'popular' sound of the 70s, their genre can best be defined as Glam rock (the field spearheaded by Kiss, Alice Cooper, Elton John, David Bowie, Queen, etc), but for the most part, Abba are diverse enough to play a range of different styles. Some of which were disco, others were pop-orientated, but for the most part, they never strayed too far from the touching emotional rock music that made them so famous in the 70s, and so misunderstood in today’s time.
As it seems, Abba is primarily enjoyed in today's age only by adults who grew up with them in the past, and it's a shame most teenagers can't appreciate the skill of their music. For crying out loud people, how many of you can listen to sterile shit like System of a Down and Slipknot, and call it a 'groove', but can't admit that you enjoyed the riffs of 'Voulez Vous'?! These words are coming from a teenage metalhead who normally couldn't listen to anything that wasn't raw metal, but Abba are the only rare exception, aside from Kiss, to this author's opinion because he's open-minded enough to admire the band's talent. It's a shame few other teenagers of today's generation aren't able to do the same. Liking their music is a matter of taste, but refusing to consider them anything but "old" and "gay" is just a depressing reminder of why Glam rock died with the 70s.
And, oh yes, the name "ABBA" was formed by the first letter of each band member's name (Björn Ulvaeus, Agnetha Faltskog, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frida), but anybody who knows even the slightest bit about Abba would’ve probably already known that.
If I like Abba, I must be old-fashioned, queer, or otherwise into shitty old pop music like Michael Jackson, right? WRONG. I like Abba and I'm every bit the metalhead; but I understand that it’s just crappy old clichés that make love-related songs seem so cheesy, that makes you all think Abba aren't worth listening to anymore. If you like Abba, don't be afraid to admit it. It just proves you have an open-mind in musical taste, and says nothing about anything else you listen to. You could call me 'weak' because I enjoy listening to 'Mamma Mia', but you couldn’t accept the fact that I equally enjoy thrashing my head to Devildriver and Slayer. Yes, it's acceptable for metalheads to listen a bit of Glam rock at times. Stop being so narrow-minded, you idiot chavs.

Multitalented musical legends. They have done disco, rock & roll, and probably a few other genres as well. About 25 years later, the songs "Dancing Queen", "Fernando" and "Mamma-Mia" are still heard just about everywhere, but those aren't near their best songs. You hear one of those 3 disco songs, and don't expect them to do rock & roll, right? Well then you're WRONG, because they made rock songs like "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)", "Money, Money, Money", and "Summer Night City"...listen to one of those. Bang your head and thrash around as necessary. Then listen to their pop and disco stuff and get a different vibe. See? See how legendary they are? Most of their songs are amazing, and enjoyable by just about everyone, whether you're an adult who grew up listening to it, a teenager whose parents listened to it growing up, whatever. The power of ABBA touches all.
I listen to ABBA while I play my Sonic games. I listen to ABBA while I play Super Monkey Ball 2. I prefer to listen to ABBA when I'm kicking somebody's hind parts, whether it's in a video game or not. ABBA is great rollerskating music as well. ABBA enhances all performance.
