1. fully ensconced in academic life, having forgone all friendships for books, abandoned all hobbies and traces of former liveliness. Walks with a stoop, has difficulty making small talk that doesn't relate to academic work.

We knew C--- was academed when she sold her couch, left her spouse, and gave up religion as too time-consuming.
