What is Alms?

Money, food, or other donations given to the poor or needy; anything given as charity: The hands of the beggars were outstretched for alms.

-pl.n. Money or goods given as charity to the poor.

- Not found in the Old Testament, but repeatedly in the New.

A devout man . . . which gave much alms to the people.
