Orginated on HRO, the word is used to describe one who, in his quest for alt-dom follows conventional alt rules (such as purchasing sillie ammounts of records, and shopping exclusively at AmAppy), but due to misguidance from MTV and Urban Outfitters, ends up looking like an idiot.

"Hey, that dude wearing head to toe AmAppy is such an AltBag!"

"I've never seen CRLS, so I wonder if he's an altbag..."
