What is American Idolitis?

A horribly incurable disease that allows people who are both pitch and/or tone deaf to believe they are truly excellent singers when in fact they really just plain suck. Symptoms may include: breaking glass, screaming cats and uncontrollable rage if the disease is mentioned in the 'singers' presence.
AT: "Wow Andrea, your mom can't sing worth a shit yet she thinks she's great and never seems to stop. Why is that?"
AS:"She has American Idolitis"
AT:"Oh, that's sad. Very sad."
