A phrase or idea that makes sense only in a very narrow and mostly illogical context. the word is a post-modern construct of a known arab word - amir - meaning price, but also disconnection from the every-day world most people live in.
He came up with such an amirism; all dogs should be interrogated in the case of the missing cat.
The idea that we could inhabit Mars tomorrow, if necessary, was pure amirism.
