A trial run of a date, to determine if a full romantic date should be pursued. Likened to the antechamber before entering grand chamber.
Sometimes, one person is pushing the antedate to become a romantic date, while the other is hesitant and preferring the outing to remain platonic.
I have an antedate on Thursday. He's funny and smart, but I haven't felt the *zing* yet... so we'll see."
