A greeting implying good will. This word is a variation on the commonly used

greeting 'Hey'. The origin of this word was probably the character of the Fonz on the television show Happy Days. However it has come back into use through the television show Family Guy which makes frequent references to the character. Including in an episode involving The Church Of the Fonz.

'Ayyye' can be used as a substitute for 'Hey' but is usually used in more casual circumstances as in between friends. 'Ayyye' is also considered an appropriate reply to 'Hey'. This word can also be used in response to someone enquiring about the well-being of another.
