What is Baltimore Lutheran School?
1.
Baltimore Lutheran is a co-education, parochial school located in Towson, Maryland. It is associated with the Lutheran Church Missouri-Synod (LCMS), being operated by an association of local Lutheran congregations. Consequently, students are required to take religion classes for each year enrolled at the school, as well as participate in weekly chapel services. Although many of the students are Lutheran, the school admits people from all Christian denominations.
The student body is aproximately 500 students in grades 6 - 12. Despite its small size, BLS is able to offer a large variety of classes and extracurricular activities. Both its girls' and boys' sports teams are competitive in the demanding IAAM and MIAA leagues. During the 2006 - 2007 school year, the girls' track team won their forth consecutive "B" conference championship; and the girls' lacrosse team one their second consecutive "C" conference championship. The girls' volleyball, boys' cross-country, boys' soccer, girls' field hockey, girls' indoor soccer, and girls' basketball teams were also successful; all of them made it deep into the playoffs.
Baltimore Lutheran School is commonly referred to as BLS or B-lu. Go Saints!
