One is said to be 'Bashiry' when they deliberately ask questions in a cunning way to illicit the often controversial answer that they are looking for.

The term Bashiry journo is now often applied to sports journalists who put words into managers/players mouths and print fabricated stories based on the quotes.

The word Bashiry is derived from the surname of 'Bashiry journo' Martin Bashir who famously conducted a series of interviews with high profile celebrities. Most notably he is known for consistently tripping-up Michael Jackson in a series of interviews.
