What is Batka?

A slang word for a "close friend". Literally meaning a "bigger brother", this word has been initially introduced by a group of classmates (Stalian, Boro, Zlatan, Dionis, Misho, Emo, Chefo, Sasho, Menzata, Lucho, Mitaka and others) in the English Language School of "Geo Milev", Bougas City, Bulgaria. Shortly, the term became popular in the other schools in Bougas and was later adopted by the majority of the young people in the country. Nowadays it is very common and is widely used in Bulgaria.
