What is Being Vulcan?

To remove one's self from feeling and emotion during a time of great feeling, as for an example the death of a family member. The purpose being that the individual does not want to experience that certain emotion(Based off a species "Vulcan" from the show Star Trek.)
it was a Tuesday morning during the wake, bob turned to Billy and said, “Do you see Jake over there, he hasn’t cried once at his own mother’s funeral.”
