It was originally called Collinsville, yet is now referred to as Benkelman. Benkelman is world recognised as Tree City USA. It has held this title for 3 years, for its population of 1,193 people, all tall.

A compliment to a the Benk.
Within western culture in the late 80's and early 90's it became quite the compliment to say to a fellow workmate or companion "You're the man". This is if they were a man, and the variable on the saying for the women was "Yo da man..ah, I mean..".
By the late 90's and into the 21st century as cultures began to mix and combine, a development on the saying was created. "Benkelman".
