In Cockney ryhming slang a two by four signifies a Jew---a 2 " x 4" being a standard timber size.
Hence a bent two by four--a twisted length of wood, or more commonly, a dishonest Jew.
That bent two by four shows good stuff in his window but shuffles you off with sub standard rubbish.
When I got home I weighed the goods and found that the bent two by four had given me less than full weight.
