Possibly the sexiest cartoon character from the 20th century (not counting anything Japanese) and a creation of the Fleischer studios in the 1920s-1930s inspired by entertainer Helen Kane. Famous for her cartoon performances, squeaky voice and "boop-oop-a-doop" catchphrase, Betty Boop was an incredibly popular character and displayed a sense of sexuality that no other character did. She was accompanied by Koko the Clown and Bimbo the Dog and rocked the black-and-white screens of many until the uptight TV broadcasters decided she was a bit too sexy for the screens and effectively killed off her appeal in the late 30s. She is now a cult icon, however.
Toot Braunstein in the Comedy Central comedy show "Drawn Together" is a spoof of her.
"A hot cornet can go "hoot hoot hoooooot", but a hot cornet can't "Boop-oop-a-Doop" like Betty Boop can do!"
