Blisk: (noun) derived from “Bladed Disk.” A blisk is a round metal disk with airfoil-shaped blades protruding in a radial fashion from the outer edge. The entire object is a single piece of metal. Blisks can be found in gas- turbineengines and are used either to compress the incoming air or to extract energy from the post-combustion airstream.
