Blurk

What is Blurk?

1.

Popular, conventional wisdom which may be factually right or wrong, but which loses meaning through frequent, often thoughtless repetition.

Examples of blurks:

"The Presidential election is important, but really, it's the Federal Reserve Chairman who's the most powerful man in the free world."

"We're the work hard/play hard college."

"The best thing about the Super Bowl is the commercials."

"Offense wins games, defense wins championships."

See trite, hackneyed, banal, cliche
