What is Boomshoe?
1.
A boomshoe describes a type of film footage, or a type of ending to film footage. It is usually taken by amateurs, and typically consists of footage of mundane activities or events made for personal use, but which inadvertently captures a dramatic or violent event (the boom). The reaction of the filmer is often to drop the camera from eye line to witness the event, pointing the camera at the ground (or their shoe). At this point, it becomes unusable as news footage. Used by TV editors and others.
A related term is the boomsky which describes a similar phenomenon but ends in the camera pointing up. More common with professional cameramen who use shoulder mounted cameras.
You can see the car in the background, so we can freeze on that. Then the explosion and some smoke, but you get a boomshoe right after.
