(1) Subtitled "Sketches of Ancient and Modern Pugilism", BOXIANA was written in 1812 by the foremost BOXING writer of the day Pierce Egan.

(2) Subtitled "Memoirs of a Scots Lady's Sporran", BOXIANA was written in 1768 by one of the foremost harlots of the day, whose popular nom de plume was Betty the Box. Pre-dated and over-shadowed by the more famous "Fanny Hill: Memoirs of a Lady of Pleasure", it was widely available for sale on the streets of Edinburgh - as, indeed, was its well-known and ubiquitousauthor.
