What is Bracketry?

(A bracket is a support, consisting of metal or wood, projecting from a wall or the like to hold or bear the weight of a shelf, secure a part from moving, etc.)
Often considered an art form.
Stan: Matt, what do you think of this design?
Matt: I like it, but the bracketry could use some tweaking - it seems like there might be an interference.
