What is Bullet Lag?

Noun. In online shooter games, bullet lag is the time it takes for a bullet to actually leave the firearm after the player has pulled their trigger. In Gears of War, every player but the host experiences bullet lag, sometimes so ridiculous that they can not the broad side of a barn while moving.
