What is Carabinieri?

Paramilitary police force of the country of Italy. Official name is "Arma dei Carabinieri" meaning in English "Carabinieri Corps", or as called by their countrymen "La Benemerita", or "Meritorious Corps", for thier bravery and commitment to public service. Functions performed by Carabinieri are very similar to American police officers. Carabinieri are also deployed abroad like regular combat soldiers in times of war.

I just got robbed, I'd better call the Carabinieri.

The American and the Carabiniere defended their post for the enemy's attack.
