Something mischievous done by a cat.
An unpleasant oily or volatile biochemical substance produced or believed to be produced by tomcats – probably from a misreading of Christopher Smart’s ‘My Cat Jeoffry’ (‘Jubilate Agno’ 1759-63), line 6: “For he rolls upon prank to work it in.”
“I don’t like this new After-Shave Balsam. It smells like cat prank.”
