It is most commonly available in salt form as Clenbuterol hydrochloride. Clenbuterol is often mistaken for a steroid because of its illicit use in athletics.

Also referred to as Clen, people who abuse this drug typically do it for its slimming effects. It is a stimulant similar to ephedrine, only much longer-lasting. When taken daily, the abuser can lose up to ten pounds in two weeks.
