What is Comment Spam?

The automatic posting of random, irrelevant comments on weblogs, wikis, and guestbooks. These comments include links to websites in order to increase search engine rankings. A form of spamdexing.
I made a very thought-provoking post the other day, but all my feedback was worthless comment spam.
