An insult common in the era of McCarthyism.
often used jokingly to refer to your friends while doing something unacceptable in the 50's or having an excessive amount of red in their clothes forum signatures and the like.
It can also be used to piss pseudo intellectual left wingers when you are in need of a good laugh since they probably think your a backward redneck and reply accordingly putting themselves to shame in public.
