A contact geek is a person who left to their own devices would not typically be a geek. A person who is a contact geek understands anime, videogame, coding and/or science references only because they've heard these terms mentioned by their geek friends and at some point have suffered an explanation by those same friends. A good managerwill often become a contact geek as a matter of survival.

On the show "Saved By the Bell", Zack was the coolest character in high school but he was also a contact geek due to his close friendship with Screech.
