What is Corn Buddy?

A friend of equal or greater significance than a best friend and distinct from one's significant other. Two people who are essentially inseparable,literally, like two kernels of corn adjacent to each other on the cob.
Where's your corn buddy? I haven't seen one of you without the other in like 3 years.
