Cotton-picker Edit Meaning

A racist slur to represent a black person, or person of African heritage......this word is used because in the Age of Our Founding Fathers, when blacks were slaves, they were known to mostly pick cotton.

"Stop picking on me you fuckin' cotton-picker!"

A cotton-picker is any person, regardless of race, who picks cotton.

Many white people and Hispanics were cotton-pickers in the rural South. I am a white woman, born and raised in Arkansas but now living in the North, married to an architect. I picked cotton in the 1950's for spending money, along with my peers. I am proud of the fact and have a tendancy to brag about it!
