a good friend who, once he or she enters (not like that) a serious relationship, suddenly disappears into the ether to be seen once every six weeks for a coffee or quiet pint before they slink off home early to spend more time with their wretched better half.
eg: ben: "let's get our old buddy cyrano de bergerac down the pub for a few beers"
rit: "you can try, but he won't come; since he met that roxanne girl he's turned into a total couple gay."
