1. Crusade:A large-scale war that springs to life due to the conflict of people with different religions.
2. The Crusades:A period of crusades from the early 12th century up to the mid 15th century. Started when, because of the Turkish empire attacking The Bysantine empire, a plea for help was sent to the pope, Uban II. The pope then commissioned that all able men in Europe were to be sent to the middle east to claim the 'Holy Land' for Christians. There were seven Crusades, the most famous are the first Crusade, The Third Crusade, in which Islamic leader Saladin used military brilliance to thwart his adversaries, and the 'Children's Crusade', where a few thousand Christian Children entered the 'Holy Land' with a belief that their 'God' would protect them.
1. The pope decreed a dispiccable philosophy that it is only a 'sin' to kill Christians, which not only is hypocritical of the religion, but is a mentality for many radical Christians today.
2. The Crusades period is one of the reasons that Muslims despise much (almost all) of the Christian population today.
