What is Cudighi?

(pron. COO-dih-gee or CUH-dih-gee) A type of Italian sausage invented by Italian immigrants in Ishpeming, Michigan. Also the name of a sandwich made from this sausage in patty form, topped with pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese on an Italian bun. Found almost exclusively in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan.
