the use of conversational traits and tendencies subconciously acquried from others over a period of time. This includes (but is not limited to): intonations, diction, and phrases.

Derivative of the name Debra (Deborah), which means "to speak kind words" and plays off the phrase: "imitation is the finest form of flattery."

Occasionally, the pitch of her voice rose at the end of her sentences, a debraism acquired from her college roomate, whom she dormed with for several years.

"That's amazing!" he replied, a debraism he picked up from his best friend.
