What is Desperation Friends?

Acquaintances whom are used as a last option to call up to go out. These "friends" are being used so you don't have to go out alone.
Ugh none of my friends responded if they wanted to come out with me tonight. If I don't get a reply in an hour then I'm calling my desperation friends.
