When a website reaches Digg's front page and the server gets pwnedby the large amount of incoming webtraffic. Images and videos worsen the Digg Rape effect due to their relatively higher bandwidth requirements versus plain text.

Usually one will notice the Digg Rape effect when trying to browse to a site linked through Digg.
