What is Disconnection?

The state of being detached from the immediate physical and sentimental world around you, with the chosen support of modern techonology such as mp3 players, cell phones, and laptops.
I understand that some of these technologies are necessary for some people and I don't know what's going on in everyone's head, but when I see that they can't walk down a damn street and be content with listening to the wind or the cars or their own thoughts? Man, they have utter disconnection.
