Dont Kill It Edit Meaning

Say if i told a joke for example... and it was funny the first time... and someone else kept bringing it up i would say .. dont kill it. or ... you jst killed it... as in you made the funny joke not funny. it taggs on to sentences like. funny guy... dont kill it .. thats most common . it doesnt have to be a joke it could be a special funny moment .
