Acronym for the term 'Diving Whining Choking Dogs", referring to the captain, Daniel Alfredsson, of Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League. The 'Choking Dogs' reference is from an article in the Ottawa Sun which calls the Senators 'Choking Dogs' because of their perennial playoff implosions.
Daniel Alfredsson, also known as the DWCD, has a history of cowering in the face of adversity and finding excuses for his poor play (i.e. refereeing). For that reason he has earned the reputation as a whinner and diver in his attempts to draw opposition penalties.
Thus he is referred to as the DWCD by National Hockey League fans.
The DWCD blew it again! They lost to the underdog Toronto Maple Leafs in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs...AGAIN!
