What is Ebbling?

The ball-like objects put on high power lines to warn small aircraft of the location of the line. They are most often seen on power lines that span passes between large hills. The term was originally derived from the misheard lyrics of an REM song, it has gained popularity among the California, Highway 17 commuter crowd.
