What is Edmonton Oilers?
1.
the former home of gretzky and a very good franchise; they won 5 (i believe) cups during the '80s with gretzky and messier; have been good recently, but missed the playoffs this year
The Oilers have good, rowdy fans.

2006 SEASON - EDMONTON OILERS
-Being the last team in the western conference to make it to the playoffs.
-Eliminating the #1 ranked team in all of the nhl in the first round.
-Losing in a series 3-0 and then coming back to defeat the same team 4-3 to advance to the stanley cup finals. Then finishing the second round of the playoffs in victory over San Jose in the last min. of the third overtime.
-Winning the series against anaheim 4-0. Not to mention they were facing the #1 ranked goalie besides their really good goalie, Roloson.

The best hockey team EVER. They kicked ass in the 2006 playoffs, and would have won the cup if the jackass on carolina didn't hurt rolli the goalie.

Stanley Cup finalists in the 2006 playoffs, failures in the next season. It's the early 1990s all over again. It must be right time to fire the head coach MacTavish and the GM Lowe now.
After they traded Chris Pronger to the Anaheim (Mighty) Ducks in the off-season and Ryan Smyth to the NY Islanders in the NHL 2006/07 season trade deadline. The Edmonton Oilers were are in a slump while the Ducks (the team the Oilers eliminated in the 2006 playoffs Western Conference finals) went straight to the Cup.
It's a sad time to be an Oilers fan.
