emotional pornography. common in literature and film, emo-nography is characterized by eggregious use of unrequited loves, alcoholic mothers, children with cancer, and a predictable variety of other cliched heart-wrenchers. despite their obvious lack of artistic merit, emo-nographic works tend to be a source of guilty pleasure.
