emotional pornography. common in literature and film, emo-nography is characterized by eggregious use of unrequited loves, alcoholic mothers, children with cancer, and a predictable variety of other cliched heart-wrenchers. despite their obvious lack of artistic merit, emo-nographic works tend to be a source of guilty pleasure.
A: omg i just read "the notebook" and it is totally better than the movie; i'll let you borrow it if you want.
B: if i was interested in emo-nography i'd sit at home with a box of tissues in front of the lifetime channel.
