Emotional Neophyte

What is Emotional Neophyte?

1.

A person who is relatively inexperienced in non-platonic relationships. These people are generally not able to communicate their feelings well, have an intense sense of need and usually have naive and idealized notions of love and romance.

"Sarah is an emotional neophyte. She doesn't get that I'm not willing to make the decision to marry her, when we've only been dating a year or two. I have to go with my gut feeling, not some whim."

You: "How are things with your guy?"

Friend: "He's such an emotional neophyte. I mean, tell me what you think. Stop trying to please me by saying "I dunno" or always seeking my approval."
