Used a lot in the american comedy, 'My Wife And Kids'. Basically means no. Sometime it's exaggerated, like when Michael says 'er' his wife might do a drumroll or something then he'd say 'na'
Claire: Daddy can i go to a study party tonight?
Michael Kyle: Er...
Jay: *Drumroll*
Michael Kyle:...Na!
