An evangelitician is an ultra-conservative politician who works closely with, whose beliefs are greatly influenced by, or whose "base" includes the Christian evangelical movement. In the case of Rick Santorum, Tom DeLayand others, the meaning is especially ironic given that their political actions and personal relationships are often at odds with the ideals of evangelical Christianity.
