Add as many exes as you feel like - the more exes, the further back in the past. An ex boyfriend from the very distant past - saves you having to say "my ex, ex, ex, ex (or however many exes)". Particularly useful if you have lost count or don't wish to specify and want to maintain an air of mystery, as is the way with many of us gals.
Dave, my exxxx (boyfriend), was a really great guy.
