A goatee. This attempt at style is the modern-day equivalent of the "business in front, party in back" mentality of the never-popular mullet. Bears some resemblance to the almost detachable appearance of the mullet and always worn by a douchebag convinced that he runs with the kool kids.

This pattern of facial hair, out of style since the US Civil War, has made a strong comeback in the early 21st century, replacing the venerable mullet haircut as a favored form of self expression (second only to tattoos) amoung those who wear "wife-beater" T-shirts and watch cars with numbers on them go around in circles. Thus, it has been dubbed "The Mullet of the 21st Century."
