The phenomenon whereby an intentional and impossibly obscure Facebook status causes numerous friends to respond.

After declaring in his status that "Rich has big news" - he was accused of facebaiting.

FaceBaiting - where you constantly invite a person to be a friend on FaceBook when you KNOW their circumstance demands they can't accept...

I knew he was gay and in the closet and accepting my friend request would tip off his overly inquisitive and (rightfully so) insecure-about-his-sexuality girlfriend, but I kept FaceBaiting him anyway figuring when he'd finally accepted who he was, he'd simultaneously accept me as a "friend"
