What is Fauxtown?

Representative of the genre of music borrowing heavily from the Motown era. Though the Motown label helped to spotlight talented African-American artists, Fauxtown artists are predominantly white. Examples of the Motown-era artists are Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder etc. The term was first used in New York City by an informed music website blogger in early 2007.

Fauxtown artists include: Alicia Keys, Amy Winehouse, Justin Timerlake.

Amy Winehouse had great success with the release of her Fauxtown album, "Back To Black".
