What is Flesh-vessel?

A Term used for one's Body. What makes someone Who they are? Is it their Body, Their Soul or their mind? According to most Religions, when we Die, we get a New Body but the soul/mind move on. There for, Bodies are just Vessels made of Flesh to carry us through this life. The term "Flesh-Vessel" is meant to sound a little dirty because The Human Body is more or less a Disgusting thing.
Alex: I'm gonna go to the Gym to beef up the ol' Flesh-Vessel
Ben: You're gonna jerk off at the Gym?
