Practicers of flip-flopsophy are usually on the go people who need easy access to comfortable colorful shoes. Economic and ergonomic, the flip flop is a shoe for all people. Most commonly seen in FL and other warmer climates. Even worn by some in these areas during cooler weather.
I myself am a practicer of flip-flopsophy I have been seen wearing a down jacket, a sweater, a pair of jeans, a scarf.....and a pair of flip-flops. If any body part is going to be sacrificed to frost bite, the toes are as good as gone.
